CV19 Project — Extending the Reach of the Award to Juvenile Homes

The CV19 Project extended The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award into Nepal’s correctional system, bringing structured personal development to juveniles at Bal Sudhar Griha, Bhaktapur. Implemented by Saksham Yuwa Nepal with approval from the Social Welfare Council, it supported rehabilitation, self-discipline and positive social reintegration for juveniles aged 14–18.
The project engaged 58 juveniles. Twenty-five completed Bronze and two progressed to Silver. Activities included orientation, weekly mentoring and monitoring, Online Record Book support, and structured skill-building in teamwork, leadership and communication.
Despite restricted access, participant turnover and limited mentoring resources, the project reported greater discipline, stronger communication and teamwork, and continued constructive engagement for some young people after leaving the centre.
