Students of grade twelve learnt about elements of first aid and ways to respond to common injuries and illnesses on expeditions as the part of Duke of Edinburgh’s international award Adventurous Journey by our nurse.
As part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award participants need to complete the Adventurous Journey which can be an exploration or expedition. The aim of this Section is to provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about the wider environment, as well as to develop their self-confidence, team work and health. Participants are taken out of their comfort zone but kept within a safe and secure setting, achieved through suitable training and supervision. Students need to work together, carry their own supply and camp outside to complete the Adventurous Journey. This first aid class is to educate and teach participants on how to act in case of an injury during the Adventurous Journey.
