Award participants of Silver level from SOS Children’s Village Lumbini have successfully completed Adventurous Journey Section of their award. 26 Award participants and 3 Award leaders 5 Accesses (3 award leaders and 2 team manages including a Trekking Guide) from SOS Children’s Village Lumbini have successful 3 days and 2 night expedition from Jomshom – Muktinath, Muktinath – Jhomshom, Jhomshom to Dhumba lake and Dhumba lake to Marpha of Mustang District in Northern Nepal. This was a cultural expedition where young people had opportunity to know about the lifestyle of people from mountain region of Nepal. Participants also visited several landmark places such as “Rupse fall” of Myagdi district, “Lete, Kagbeni and Marpha” Village, and World’s deepest Gorge “Andha Galchi”. The Journey was a very enjoyable event were we were engaged in sightseeing, walking on ACAP trekking circuit at an altitude of more than 3700 m from sea level, mass cooking for 31 individuals. The food was especially more enjoying after the long and tiring hike, this added more excitement, challenge and sense of achievement among the children and young people.
The participants said they were so excited and amazed to see the geographical setting of that district and felt luck to visit the world’s highest altitude Lord Vishnu’s temple. Beauty and peaceful environment of whole trekking route was very much pleasing and wonderful mountain range of Nilgiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchre so close to them as if they were able to smell the snow.
