CWIN Balika Peace Home is a home for girls that do not have a place to call home. Located in the beautiful hills of Kavre, it hosts almost 50 girls from all over Nepal, providing them a home away from home. The Duke of Edinburgh Award program is proud to be partnering with CWIN Balika Peace Home and welcomes them to the Award family. On 22/02/2019 The Duke of Edinburg’s team went to CWIN Balika Peace Home in Kavre to discuss the possibility of partnering with the home to run the Award in their facility. They had about 20 youth between the ages of 14 – 24 who could immensely benefit from the program. We meet Bhagwati Shrestha manager of CWIN Girls Home. We discussed the prospect of running such a program in a Girls Home, discussed pain points we might come across and how we can deal with them. We presented a background of the program and how it could help Girls living at the CWIN homes to be empowered. After explaining the program and talking to her about the resources they had, we discussed avenues on how we the NAO office can assist in making the program a success in CWIN. Since it was our first time operating the Award Program in a Home we would be using this pilot program to model other such ventures. Bhagwati Ma’am was very eager to start the program. From our discussion it seems that the program could be a great success in CWIN with a little extra assistance from the NAO office. We hope this friendship and partnership between CWIN and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program will blossom in the coming years, and we get many more opportunity to partner with other Homes like CWIN in the future.
